Colorado Renewable Energy Society
We are members of the Colorado Renewable Energy Society (CRES), a nonprofit membership organization that works to increase awareness of the economic and environmental benefits of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies and serves as a leading resource in providing renewable energy information to the people of Colorado to support the sensible adoption of these technologies by Colorado businesses and consumers.
ENERGY STAR
We are an ENERGY STAR Partner and build 100% of our homes following – and usually surpassing – federally-set standards for energy efficiency from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Building Technology program, Builder’s Challenge, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s program for ENERGY STAR-Qualified Homes. The Builder’s Challenge is based on HERS ratings – a projected and verified standard for energy efficiency. The Challenge requires that homes achieve a score of HERS 70 or below. As Colorado’s leading green home builder, our homes regularly score HERS 20 or below on all new homes, and in two homes have verified performance of HERS -3.
Energy & Environmental Building Association
To provide education and resources to transform the residential design, development, construction and remodeling industries to profitably deliver energy efficient and environmentally responsible buildings and communities. One of their best programs is Houses That Work – classes designed to help building professionals benefit from understanding the house-as-a-system regardless of what climate zone or the number/size of the homes they build.
EfficiencyFirst.org (Founding Members)
Ecofutures’ Eric Doub helped to found Efficiency First, a national nonprofit trade association that unites the Home Performance workforce, building product manufacturers and related businesses and organizations in the escalating fight against global warming and rising energy costs. Efficiency First represents its members in public policy discussions at the state and national levels, to promote the benefits of efficiency retrofitting and to help our industry grow to meet unprecedented demand for quality residential energy improvements.
US Green Building Council
We are longtime members of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit organization committed to a prosperous and sustainable future for our nation through cost-efficient and energy-saving green buildings. USGBC works toward its mission of market transformation through its LEED green building certification program, robust educational offerings, a nationwide network of chapters and affiliates, the annual Greenbuild International Conference & Expo, and advocacy in support of public policy that encourages and enables green buildings and communities.
