“Your guys are super. They do good work, and they’re a pleasure to be around. Plus, our propane bill has been cut in half!”
Hunter Lovins 5150 St. Vrain, Boulder, Colorado “Thank you so much for an inspiring workshop and for generously opening your home for the tour. Everyone came away with ideas they can use. I know Cheri and I were truly impressed with how livable Catherine has made your home which also serves as a “living laboratory.
Professionally speaking, I think your presentation gave us a much clearer vision of the future of home building. Imagine how much energy will be saved, how much less carbon will be emitted and how many families will be healthier and happier, if over the next several years, 500 entry level, affordable homes are built to a much higher standard than they would have been otherwise. Of course, the custom and semi-custom builders were inspired to strive for the net zero energy goal that you have accomplished.
Build tight, ventilate right. I look forward to staying touch.”
Heath Herber “Throughout our project, Ecofutures was a delight to work with. The quality of work was fantastic, but in our minds what really set the company apart was the ability to realistically plan our project and the care taken in the actual construction of the project both with respect to the building itself and to the impact of the project on us and our neighbors. We felt that Ecofutures’ high level of preparation helped us to avoid nightmares that friends had encountered with lesser builders. The result was that we ended up living in a comfortable, efficient house that we love, within budget and schedule. We look forward to working with Ecofutures on future projects.”
Athena Dodd and Ben Collett 2556 6th Street, Boulder, Colorado “We chose Eric and Ecofutures based on their demonstrated integrity and commitment to eco-friendly building & materials. We found throughout the process that Eric was always available for us. Overall working with Ecofutures & Eric was a pleasure because of the commitment to detail & quality and because we recognize that Ecofutures is committed to paying his employees a living wage and this shows in the outstanding level of the craftsmen that showed up to our door.”
Tony, Janique & Julia 505 Concord, Boulder, Colorado “With Eric’s help and expertise we now live in a home that is environmentally friendly, with non- toxic stains and paint, and bamboo and concrete floors. We can leave on a trip for several weeks, without turning on the radiant heat and come home anytime of the year and the temperature is between 64 and 68 degrees, even in the fall and winter. Eric and his crew were great to work with. They are skilled craftsmen and they have a great sense of humor and a lot of patience. Our house feels like a piece of the earth – it feels great to us to be environmentally conscious and to have a home that has a low impact on the environment.”
Phillippa & Dottie 34718 Boulder Canyon Drive, Boulder, Colorado “Working with Eric was great; we’ve always trusted him so we didn’t even talk to anybody else. I still look at the kitchen and love it!”

“As the Cunard shipping company used to advertise “Getting there is half the fun!” From start to very fine finish, it has been a great pleasure and a privilege to think with and to learn from this group of people who truly appreciate nicety of detail in domestic architecture. It is also satisfying to participate, in a sense, in an organization that is devoted to developing a gold standard of effective use of natural materials while also accomplishing wonderfully comfortable living at a cost of minimal environmental impact.
But their sense of effectiveness also encompasses their business practices. Planning a job is about anticipating every requirement, from the exact lengths of lumber needed to the precise moment at which electrical installation should take place. They do it in detail, they are masterful in keeping to schedule and are generous in discussing and solving problems along the way. In fact, watching them work is like watching the Olympics!
Is it obvious that I cannot praise their mission and their intelligent craftsmanship enough?”
Janet Collett 606 Dewey, Boulder, Colorado “Dear Eric and Friends:
Our new home reflects the harmonies that we enjoyed with Ecofutures and all of the people involved in the building project.
Ecofutures has been central to our realizing the transformation of our vision of a green home into a reality that exceeds our dreams. The entire process has been a remarkable one of growth and learning about the extraordinary breadth of factors that all add up to a truly green, organic home.
Decision making with our project manager was thoughtful, detailed and always pleasant. Not once in the project did we have “toxic” people or situations. Total joy!!
Our project manager and his primary carpenter/assistant were wonderfully receptive to our questions for finishing details, and unusually creative in resolving them.
Thank you for service of the highest order.”
Ann Moore & Mike Moore 1150 Kerr Gulch, Evergreen, Colorado “From start to finish we were delighted both working with Eric and with the finished product. He was very creative helping us with how we wanted to do the job. The quality of the work was excellent; primarily because of the quality of the people he has working for him. Ecofutures truly is a green company from the materials used to the recycling of the construction waste.”
Jim 421 Mountain View, Boulder, Colorado “It was a really positive experience. We have recommended Ecofutures to our friends. Considering there was such a condensed timeline, the job ran really smoothly. They brought to our attention every detail, things we hadn’t even seen ourselves and Rachel and Margot kept everything really organized.”
