• Established and continues to manage an award-winning residential remodeling and construction firm specializing in super-efficient and healthy homes
• Since 1982, have designed, built or worked on hundreds of projects in Colorado and California
• Company volume has grown an average of 35% per year since 1993, to $3.2 million in 2004
• In 2005, designed and built the city of Boulder’s first Zero Energy Home – first in the nation in a cold climate to be code-compliant with no gas or electric backup heating equipment, i.e., 100% solar, and first cold-climate custom home in North America to be publicly verified to perform as a net energy producer, through 2008
• In 2009, founded EcoSmart Homes, a subsidiary of Ecofutures, Inc. to provide full service home performance upgrades for existing homes.

Who I am as a builder and businessperson – and who I am not:

• I have never been sued.
• I have never sued a subcontractor, vendor or homeowner.
• I have never been involved in mediation or arbitration.
• I have never had problems with liens by subcontractors or vendors, or anything of the sort.
• I have never declared bankruptcy.
• I have no troubles with the IRS or the law, and have no history of such.
• My company, its employees, and subcontractors are fully insured.
• On our core team we have some of the Boulder area’s top career carpenters.
• Due to volume and longstanding, fruitful working relationships, and paying weekly, our subcontractors are loyal and reliable.  We have an excellent team of tradespeople.
• I am liked and respected by the local building departments, for my dedication to “getting it right,” resource conservation, and outspokenness on behalf of clients.
• Clients speak well of me, and of Ecofutures personnel, even after the remodeling process (where personal stresses are higher and costs far less certain than in new construction).
• As to timelines, Ecofutures has done well on many extremely challenging projects.  I strongly encourage speaking to past clients to learn their experience with resources we devoted, effort expended, how we held to the projected timeline, etc.  We have always done our best, and clients have appreciated that.  The reputation of Ecofutures does not include underachievement, inadequate progress, or being slow.
• As to stability as a company, and our warranty program, we are financially sound, and Boulder has been my hometown since 1970.  My wife and I are raising our children here (they are now 11 and 9 years old), and I am determined not to move after living in California eight years (for Stanford and then work) as well as Japan and Germany.  In addition, the success and momentum of Ecofutures and our deeply committed and inspired team will be keeping me here for a long time.
